Dahlia Update!

Dahlia Growing Update – Week 3 🌱

It’s been almost three weeks since we planted the dahlias, and things are starting to get interesting.

A few of the tubers have now sprouted their first leaves, which is always an exciting stage. The small bright green shoots are just beginning to push through the soil, showing that the tubers are waking up and starting their growing journey. Seeing those first leaves appear is always a reassuring sign that the conditions are right and the plants are getting established.

Some of the pots already have healthy little shoots forming, and the leaves are beginning to open out.

At this early stage they’re still very small, but it’s a clear indication that the tubers are active and developing below the surface.

However, not all of the dahlias have started growing yet. A few of the pots are still showing no visible signs above the soil.

That’s not unusual with dahlias, some tubers can take longer than others to wake up, especially depending on temperature, moisture, and how mature the tuber is.

For now, it’s just a case of being patient and waiting to see how many eventually sprout. Over the next couple of weeks we should get a clearer picture of which tubers are thriving and which ones might not make it.

Gardening always involves a bit of uncertainty, and dahlias are no exception but the first sprouts are a promising start. 🌼

We’ll keep watching them closely and will share another update once more of them start growing.
